About

ABOUT ANANTAKASHI
Kashi, the city of Shiva, holds profound significance in Hindu culture. Sacredness in this tradition can be categorized into two types: the auspicious and the holy. The auspicious encompasses all that is good and valuable, while the holy transcends conventional distinctions between good and bad, valuable and valueless. This latter essence of sacredness is embodied by Shiva.
Speaking of the ancient heritage of Banaras, Mark Twain famously remarked, “Benaras is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend, and looks twice as old as all of them put together!” When Lord Shiva married Parvati, he searched the entire earth, from the lofty Himalayas to every corner, to find a suitable home for them. His choice was the sacred city of Varanasi.
Anantakashi is a devoted organization in Varanasi with a mission to make the deep traditions of Sanatan Dharma accessible and meaningful to everyone. We serve people across India by offering affordable pilgrimages, including yatras, astrological services, stays, and transportation. Our involvement extends to restoring temples, promoting Vedic studies, and supporting local communities and animals in need.
With a compassionate team, our core focus is to treat every visitor to Kashi as part of our family, ensuring that their journey is fulfilling and memorable. We provide personalized spiritual support and cultural insights, creating unique devotion-filled experiences for all. Our commitment goes beyond service—our goal is to build lasting relationships with our guests, creating a family that stays with us forever.
We uphold the value of वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम् (the world is one family) and aim to make your stay in Kashi a truly homely experience, unforgettable and meaningful.
The oldest living city in the world is renowned by three names:
Kashi: Derived from the Sanskrit word काशि (Kashi), meaning “shining,” this name reflects the city’s radiant spiritual significance.
Varanasi: The city is named after its unique geographical location between two rivers, Varuna and Assi, giving it the name Varanasi.
Benaras: This name evolved during British colonial times, when the local pronunciation of Varanasi as “Benarasi” was adapted by the British to “Benaras.”
